Fawcett Ranch Retreat

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN IN THE PLANNING STAGES FOR A FEW MONTHS

Fawcett Ranch Retreat:

The Adventure Continues

May 17th – 19th, 2019

THERE IS NO COST/FEES TO SCOUTS OR SCOUTERS FOR THIS EVENT!

With the gracious consideration of the Fawcett Family heirs, led by Robert and Bill Fawcett and in combination with the kindness of the Devil’s River State Natural area scouts and scouters will be treated to an outstanding weekend to include:

  1. Access to the Fawcett Family ranch property known as Yellow Bluff, which is situated on Dolan Creek a short distance from Dolan Falls on the Devil’s River.
  2. Have access to the 74 pictographs located on the Fawcett Family ranch and gain firsthand knowledge of the pictographs from Amistad Park Ranger Jack Johnson. One of the pictographs is a depiction painted by Native Americans of a Spanish Conquistador.
  3. Learn first-hand knowledge of the trials and tribulations of E. K. Fawcett from the Fawcett Family, the cave he lived in during the late 1800’s and why E. K. was dedicated to a new youth program referred to as Boy Scouts of America.
  4. Conservation Project
  5. We’ll be camping on Dolan Creek

Starting in 1931 E. K. would invite scouts and scouters to his Dolan Creek ranch to celebrate his arrival to the area in 1883 and to promote scouting. The Fawcett family is proud to continue in this tradition and hopes that you will come and see where it all began for the great scouter of the Southwest – E.K. Fawcett.
We would like to thank the Fawcett Family along with Robert and Bill Fawcett
