Roger Ridley Silver Beaver

It’s rewarding to watch passionate scouting volunteers provide so much time for young men, over many years with encouragement to set a solid foundation for their life. They serve as a great example to Scouts and others.

Roger is a unique individual that has never solicited recognition; he is just not made that way! So it is extremely rewarding to us for Roger to be recognized with the Silver Beaver award this year.

In 1998 Roger was asked to assist with Troop 255 as a committee member which rapidly evolved to being Assistant Scoutmaster, then as Advancement Chairman, Troop Committee Chairman and Scoutmaster.

Roger graduated from Del Rio High School in 1963 and is a Navy Veteran. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and actively participates in Ordeal and service projects of the Order.

Roger is a firm believer in training young men and just as important to him is making sure adult leadership receives ongoing training. Within the former Amistad and Winter Garden districts he has trained over 75 local leaders, since 2000. In 2005 Roger received the District Order of Merit.

Roger is a member of the Baptist Church and has been active with the Calderon Elementary School PTO.
