In decades past when summer camp was held Scouts were encouraged to mail some form of communication home during camp.
The photo and short write-up of this post card was one form a Scout could use to send home and was available from the camp Trading Post. The post card was also viewed as a marketing tool to promote summer camp and the quality of summer camp Staff. This card originated back in the early 1960’s, with the photo on the banks of the Nueces River at Camp Fawcett.
The script reads:
Concho Valley Council, BSA
Bob McNeil and Julius Graw (both of Uvalde) are two of the Concho Valley’s experienced aquatic staff that help Scouts have an adventure filled summer camp. These expert instructors teach swimming and Life Saving techniques in the Council’s camps; Camp Fawcett and Camp Sol Mayer.

The below photo was sent to us without names. It was taken at Camp Fawcett of a group of Girl Scouts attending summer camp at Camp Fawcett – not sure of the year. Please let us know if you can identify the time frame of the photo and the girls.
