Wahinkto Order of the Arrow Lodge #199 held its 5th Vigil Reunion at Camp Fawcett, with thirteen Vigil members in attendance, along with five Vigil Candidates. Mike Wallace, the Council’s Camp Ranger was in charge of this event.
The Vigil was held in what once was the location of OA ring down by the river (the 20 acres prone to flooding) and is now referred to as Vigil Island. Beto Torres, Jr. and Dustin worked in the rain May 9th and 10th picking five different sites and setting them up for the Vigil. Friday with the help of everyone we mowed trails, setup the Tee Pee and established the location for the ceremony and the ceremonial fire.
Friday evening all were served a BBQ dinner, before placing the five candidates in the locations at 11:00 PM. Saturday morning the closing ceremony was held with a great breakfast and everyone received a special patch commemorating this special Vigil event.
Mike Wallace “The Nueces River did come up about a foot on Thursday and looks better than it has in several years. We also mowed the Fawcett reunion site so it is ready other than I will need to move tables. I will be at Fawcett most of next week with the road crew and plan on being back on Friday June 1st to support the reunion.”
