New Council President

Dr. David Cummings was approved to be the Texas Southwest Council President for 2014 at the annual council banquet held February 11th in San Angelo, Texas

Dr. David Cummings was raised in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains.  

His scouting career and adventure started in Amarillo, Texas. He attended the 1985 National Jamboree at Ft. A. P. Hill in Virginia. Dr. Cummings achieved his Eagle Scout rank while with Troop 86 of Amarillo.

After graduating from Lubbock’s Monterey High School, David attended Baylor University in Waco.   He received a Business degree and completed Pre-Med requirements.   He continued on to Texas Tech University School of Medicine graduating with a doctorate of medicine degree.   He completed residency and fellowship training at Scott & White in Temple.   Dr. Cummings’ practice as a medical oncologist includes the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders.   He is currently the medical director of the Shannon Oncology Center in San Angelo.   He is married to Dinah, who is an assistant professor at the Angelo State University School of Nursing.   David and Dinah are active in many community boards and activities including the Baptist church, the San Angelo Symphony and Young Life of San Angelo.   Dr. Cummings is a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
